A business built around specific moments of need

For nearly 15 years, LegalNature has helped consumers and businesses create legal documents online. Customers can answer questions, build a document, and decide whether to purchase an individual form or subscribe for broader access to LegalNature’s document library.

Because its products solve highly specific needs, LegalNature has historically relied heavily on search advertising. Someone looking for a power of attorney or quitclaim deed often already has a task they need to complete.

But the way people research those needs is changing. Instead of starting with a traditional search query, users may begin by asking ChatGPT what a power of attorney does, whether they need a will, or how to start an LLC.

LegalNature saw an opportunity to reach users while they were working through those questions—before they had necessarily decided how to complete the legal task.

Turning conversations into completed documents

LegalNature found that its strongest campaigns were the most specific. Rather than using broad legal-services messaging, each campaign focused on the exact document a user appeared to need. An ad about a power of attorney sent users directly to a power-of-attorney page; an ad about a quitclaim deed sent them directly to the corresponding document flow.

The team reported meaningful engagement from this approach. Nearly 40% of all ChatGPT Ads visitors started the document-creation flow immediately after landing, and around 8% of all ChatGPT Ads visitors completed an entire guided legal document, working through a multi-page legal form.¹

We see people coming through the form and making it most of the way through the funnel. When it’s a 20- or 40-minute flow, that’s already a big signal that this traffic channel has promise for us.

These were not lightweight conversions: completing a document requires users to work through a multi-page legal form before reaching checkout.

Helping users move from questions to action

ChatGPT Ads users did not just engage deeply—they moved through the experience quickly. Ninety-five percent of completed documents were finished within one hour of arrival.¹

LegalNature’s hypothesis is that conversations in ChatGPT help users clarify what they need before clicking. Once they arrive on LegalNature’s site, they are better positioned to continue through the document-creation process.

People are happy to use ChatGPT to search for what they need, but they still want to use a product to actually complete it. That’s what we’re seeing with power of attorney: users may start with ChatGPT, then come to LegalNature because they want help from a service that specializes in legal documents.

The quality extended beyond the document flow. Among users who completed a document, approximately 71% submitted their email to create a free account to save and secure their work.¹

Helping people act on their legal needs

LegalNature described the early results as encouraging, pointing to purchase performance and acquisition efficiency as it refined its campaigns.

LegalNature sees ChatGPT Ads as a promising way to reach people who have articulated a legal need and want help completing the task. For the team, the opportunity lies in making that next step useful: connecting a specific need with the right document and a guided path to creating it.
